Interpreting the Cocaine QTest® Color Scale
The Cocaine QTest® uses a precise colorimetric scale to help you determine the approximate purity and potency of your cocaine sample. Each color represents a defined concentration range, increasing from left to right:
0% – 10% – 20% – 30% – 40% – 50% – 60% – 70% – 80% – 90% – 100%

Analyze Cocaine Purity in 3 Easy Steps
Step 1: Preparation & Extraction
Add exactly 0.02 g (20 mg) of the powder sample into the detection vial.
Then, shake the vial thoroughly for 60 seconds to dissolve and extract the active ingredients.
This ensures that the sample is fully activated and ready for analysis.

Step 2: Development & Reaction
Next, add 6 drops from the extraction vial into the development vial.
After that, use the provided pipette to transfer the entire liquid from the development vial into the detection vial.
Mix the contents carefully to initiate the reaction.
You’ll notice a color change forming in the upper liquid phase—this is where the magic happens.
Step 3: Evaluation & Purity Estimation
Immediately after mixing, compare the color intensity of the upper phase with the included color chart.
The color gradient ranges from 0% to 100% purity, allowing you to estimate the cocaine content of your sample with high accuracy.

The COCAINE QTest® is a scientifically validated cocaine purity test designed to measure the potency and active concentration of powdered cocaine. It delivers accurate results within minutes using a simple, three-step process.
Yes. The Cocaine QTest® is specifically developed to determine the strength and purity of cocaine in powdered form. With just 0.02 grams (20 mg) of sample, you can assess the approximate cocaine content visually via color comparison.
No. This test is optimized exclusively for powdered cocaine. It is not suitable for unknown substances, mixtures, or other drugs. Testing other materials may produce inaccurate or meaningless results.
No. The test is intended only for powdered cocaine hydrochloride. It does not work reliably with crack cocaine, freebase forms, or other non-powder substances.
Partially. The QTest® is designed to minimize false positives from levamisole, but lidocaine and related “-caine” substances may still affect the result.

No. The QTest® does not detect pink cocaine (tucibi or tusi), which is usually a mixture of various psychoactive compounds. The QTest® only measures the concentration of traditional powdered cocaine.

Dr. Felix Blei – Scientific Author
Dr. Felix Blei is the CEO and Founder of miraculix Lab, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. With a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Microbiology and a strong background in natural product biosynthesis, he is internationally recognized for his pioneering work on psychoactive fungi—particularly the biosynthesis of psilocybin and related compounds.
During his doctoral research at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Microbiology under Prof. Dirk Hoffmeister, Dr. Blei was the first to elucidate the full biosynthetic pathway of psilocybin in Psilocybe mushrooms. He further developed an in vitro system capable of producing psilocybin, serotonin, and novel non-natural analogues. His discovery of naturally occurring β-carbolines in Psilocybe—compounds that may synergistically enhance psilocybin's neurotropic effects—led to the concept of “psilohuasca,” a naturally occurring combination of MAO inhibitors and psychedelics in fungi.
Building on his academic expertise, Dr. Blei developed the first reliable rapid tests for psilocybin, which laid the foundation for the spin-off company miraculix. Today, miraculix provides quantitative drug checking tools that are used throughout Germany and Europe. He also leads the German ALIVE project—an evidence-based drug checking initiative funded by state governments, offering mobile substance analysis and harm reduction at music festivals and public events.
With over 500 citations, numerous publications in high-impact journals, and a passion for accessible science, Dr. Blei bridges cutting-edge research with real-world application. His work contributes to safer substance use, public health strategies, and a deeper understanding of natural psychoactive compounds.
