Morphological facts

Pluteus Salicinus

We have made a new and exciting discovery that we would like to share with you. It is the Psilocybe Pluteus Salicinus, also called "dragon mushroom" or, in English, "Krackers crumpet".

For this we would like to share with you some general information and introduce it:

Morphology Pluteus Salicinus

Characteristics: Cap conical to convex, later flattening, with a broad umbo Cap surface smooth and shiny when moist, dull when dry, with fine dark radial fibers. Occasionally with greenish tones.

Lamellae whitish to cream when young, later light pinkish brown, very crowded and thin, free, with finely whitish ciliated edges.

Stem cylindrical or ± evenly thickened to base, frail, hollow, whitish, silvery longitudinally fibrous. Flesh white to cream, soft.

Size: 4 - 12 cm ø, stem 5 - 10 x 0,5 - 2 cm.

Spore Print: pinkish brown

Odor and taste: like radish

Occurence: On deciduous wood, preferably on alder and willow, in various stages of decay. Common in Central Europe.

Trivia, mistaken identity:

In magic mushroom communities, this relatively large rooftop mushroom is also called Gray Dragon Mushroom or, in English, "Krackers crumpet". These names derive from its content of psychoactive psilocybin. However, the amount of this ingredient varies greatly, ranging from 0.1 - 0.8% of the dry mass. [2]

We can confirm these analyses and our specimens contained between 0.4 - 0.7% psilocybin in dry matter. The psilocybin QTest can also be used to reliably detect the psilocybin content without HPLC and thus confirm a finding quite easily.

Disclaimer

Do not eat wild mushrooms unless you are very sure of it's identification. We ask you with the listed information not to simply go into the woods and pick mushrooms wildly. The variety of the mushroom world is huge and it can quickly lead to dangerous mix-ups. Especially with regard to Galerina marginata, Inocybe sp. or many other poisonous mushrooms.

Please take this into account and take care of yourself.
